The Letter "W" ~~ Weekend Roundup and Reflections
The twenty-third issue of Weekend Roundup for this year, 2020...

(A) Starts with the Letter "W": Water starts with "W". It has rained tropical water, cats and dogs and rabbits this week. We are looking out the front door, the whipping rain doesn't show real good.
At right, the rain gutters were running over. You are looking into a small front porch with a brick floor leading to the drive way. The wall is a column at the middle of the driveway's front, into the garage.
(B) "White" (Tom's choice): This is Trudy, our youngest granddaughter, KP's White Rabbit.
What you are seeing in the foreground is a little amusement park.
(D) Reflections: More Water of a small lake by one of our walking trails
It was just starting to get dark. The White Globs in the water are Reflections of the street lights along the street and sidewalk.
(E) A Lagniappe: This is Last Week's Reflection that had dissapeared after I posted. The reflections in the two upper windows are of the sunset, it was real pretty that evening.

My Two Questions (you can answer just one if you wish):
(1) What comes to mind when you think of "White"? I think of the White Carnation flowers that we buy. But right away I think of the song.
(2) Where was the last Toy Rabbit Doll that you saw? If that doesn't work, your favorite stuffed toy will do. I will ask this again I am sure. It was the one KP had brought over the afternoon that we played Clue games.

(1) What is your favorite "W" word? This time it will be "Why"? I like to know the How's and Why's of things.
(2) Where is the closest amusement park to you? When was the last time you went to one? I The Galveston Beach one is our closest, about 40 miles. We have never been to it, it is quite new, less than 10 years old. Probably the last one I have attended was the old Astro World, beside our Astrodome where the Houston Astros played for a long time. It was the FIRST DOMED STADIUM in the World, 1965 completion. It was still being build when I came here from New Hampshire in 1964.

(C) A Favorite: More Water, the Gulf of Mexico at Galveston, Texas. This is beside the Downtown Galveston. It runs about three miles on to the East. The beach runs the length of the island, about 22 miles more over to the West. What you are seeing in the foreground is a little amusement park.

The Letter "V" ~~ Weekend Roundup and Reflections
The twenty-second issue of Weekend Roundup for this year, 2020...
(THE TWENT-SECOND LETTER FOR THIS SERIES)

(A.1) Starts with the Letter "V": Vehicle starts with the letter "V". We must now stay in our Vehicles to pick up the library books we have checked out on the phone. No entrance to the library yet.
But I had to go on-line to pay for my checked out book that I have list. Plus a five dollar "handling" charge. Had we been able to handle that book?
(A.2) Vehicles I have owned. Actually I should have said 'that "we" have owned' although five of them I bought while I was not married. See the list below. Or click here (it omits the Sears Vespa Motorscooter and the 1984 ford thunderbird).
(B) "Violet" (Tom's choice): We call this a "Lily of the Nile" but more appropriately it is an "Agapanthus". It's kind of Violet Blue.
My interest really is the little Bunny Rabbit behind and between the flowers. She was inspecting this hole which she had dug the day before.
We think she was preparing a place to have and keep her babies. But probably she has chosen another place due to the busier traffic in our backyard. Moving makes us happy as we have had four little bunnies die in our pool. Her "nest" picture above on the right.
(C) A Favorite: This is the Bunny Rabbit.
(D) Reflections: A beautiful sunset was mostly obscured by the houses on our street across from our house which faces West. We saw a part of it as Reflections in the upstairs windows of the house across and one house to the left from ours.
(E) A Lagniappe: The parts of the sunset that we could see from our driveway.
Reds don't come out with my Sony pocket camera as it tries to suppress it as red eye. There likely is a way to force it to not think redeye but I let it be.

My Two Questions (you can answer just one if you wish):
(1) What comes to mind when you think of "Violet"? I think of the first flowers that I picked. The Wild Violets grew all over the part of Eastern Nebraska where I grew up (out in the hill country West of the Missouri River about seven miles, between Herman and Tekamah), almost as common as the Dandelion. Probably I picked Dandelions first.
(2) Where was the last Rabbit Hole that you saw? Or the first one? I had never seen a Rabbit Hole before in all my long life. I had read of them, both in Nursery Rhymes and other literature.
Bonus Questions:
(1) What is your favorite "V" word? This time it will be Undecided. That is my official political viewpoint for poles but I'd rather call it Independent. I keep my blogs free of political talk, this is the closest I've come in the 15 years I've blogged. If there is a political comment I quickly remove it and slap the wrist of whoever left it.)
(2) When did you last list the vehicles that you have owned? How many do you think you have owned? I have kept a list on my Blog for several years.

(B) "Under" (Tom's choice): Under the Bridge in Sydney, Australia on our Ferry Ride. For most of my posts about Sydney and our January 2014 visit, click here.
We had a pleasant ferry ride (Sidney Ferries) around the Harbor on the Inner Harbour Ferry. It left the Circular Quay and sailed over to the Australian National Maritime Museum. I liked going under the Harbour Bridge. You can see the Sydney Opera House in the background.
We rode the train over and back across that bridge, we took the ferry to Manly Beach for a morning, we rode the tram to the Harbor Fish Market, and took the bus to Bondi Beach for our major rides. There were many more as Sydney has a wonderful public transportation system. Since Mrs. Jim and I were seniors our all day tickets to all modes, even the ferry and the train, were $2.50 AUS each day.
(A) Starts with the Letter "U": Unknown starts with "U". This soup was good, great, as it is homemade by Mrs. Jim. but I don't know what kind it was. Nor do I know the fried stuff on the left.
I will let you guess what kind of goodies we ate?

(D) Reflections: Uphill pitch. The green on this hole was very steep and the ball didn't want to stay high. Site was the Wedgewood Public Golf Course, Conroe, Texas, now closed. Conroe is just north of Houston, where the little hills start. This was my Favorite public course to play._ _ _ _

(1) What comes to mind when you think of "Under"? I think of my dictionary that I hardly use anymore. It is an "Under the Bridge with Dick and Harry", 1970's edition.
(2) When was the last Birthday that you celebrated? Our oldest great granddaughter was due to have us a new Baby Girl Great Greatgranddaughter last week. That happened just during the night now. 6.8 pound BABY GIRL.

(2) When did you last play a sport? I have not played Golf for about seven years. My artificial knee joint gave me fits after playing and lasted a day and a half after. But I may learn to play "Old Men Golf" this year. Walking is my only sport at the moment.

The Letter "T" ~~ Weekend Roundup and Reflections
The twentieth issue of Weekend Roundup for this year, 2020...
(THE TWENTIETH LETTER FOR THIS SERIES)
- the Letter "T" Prompts are:

(B) "Tree" (Tom's choice);
(C) A Favorite; and
(D) Reflections.

(A) Starts with the Letter "T": "Tadpoles" starts with the letter "T". This is a copy of the pictorial explanation for children of how they turn into Frogs which was included with our Houston Chronicle for Sunday, April 26, 2020.
(B) "Tree" (Tom's choice): This tree is a palm tree along our back yard fence.
(C) A Favorite: "They" are gone. They being Mana Dove and Baby Bird. Baby has finally hatched, she was sitting on our shoe wiping rug at the front door. Mrs. Jim shooed a little rabbit that was watching from down at the curb. Rabbits do eat small birds. I went back in for a camera.
Baby likes being gone and was gone by the time I returned with the camera. But last night before bedtime both mother and kid they were back in their nest in a niche under the eves at the house and garage intersection.
Now this morning Mana Dove and Baby Bird have gone again, all day so far. Probably they went to be with Mama's brood of three others born about a month ago. Adios (Watch "Adi Beagle Dog play after her bath goes wild!" on YouTube https://youtu.be/Ca20rBjwpcI)
(D) Reflections: This is a 'walk picture,' along the other side of the street at the end of our block. That street is between the smaller trees and the house.in the background. There is a sidewalk over there also, parallel to this one in the foreground.

(1) What comes to mind when you think of a "Tree"? I think of a large Tree that was back home at the edge of our grove. I had built a nice Treehouse in it. Zombie trees are my favorites to find.
(2) When was the last Birthng thing event you have have had lately or some other time in your life that you would like to share? Our oldest great granddaughter was due to have us a new Baby Girl Great Greatgranddaughter yesterday. That didn't happen, maybe today she will come.

(1) What is your favorite "T"word? This time it will NOT be "Taxes". I am thinking they need to go up with all the Bailout Money that Congress is passing out. We are in a low bracket so maybe our Bailout Checks will cover our dues.
(2) When did you last see a Tadpole? I have NEVER SEEN A TADPOLE that I know of. Do they really exist?

The Letter "S" ~~ Weekend Roundup and Reflections
HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!!!

(THE NINETEENTH LETTER FOR THIS SERIES)

(A) Starts with the Letter "S": "Starting Line" starts with "S". These small toy cars that I keep on my dresser are ready to Start their race.
After three semesters at the University of Nebraska I dropped out and got a job at the Elgin Watch Factory in Lincoln, Nebraska. One of our quality control inspectors, Bill Robinson, drove a race car on our dirt car track out at edge of town. I was invited to join his racing crew.

We quit racing the car when our sponsor would not finance a new engine as we had thrown a piston through the cylinder wall. We sleeved the cylinder and Bill used it in a pristine 1940 Ford Coupe street car. We did get another sponsor to finance a 1937 Chevy for us.

(B) "Straight" (Tom's choice): "Straight from the Horses Mouth", the Bible verse on this May calendar I dug out yesterday. It echoed our last Sunday's sermon on "The Good Shepherd" from John 10.
At verse 11 it says "The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep." Our minister told us (via the streaming video in the living room) that in the fields where the shelters are very primitive and the Shepherd sleeps laying in the doorway so he knows when someone or someone tries to enter or leave.
Hearing that from both the calendar and the preacher tells me there is a message there that I should heed. This Mother's Day weekend's message will be given by a lady at online, Saturday at 6PM or Sunday at 9:30 or 11:00AM Central Daylight Time.
The calendar picture is at "Shepherds' Field outside Bethlehem, Israel." (googled link for more pictures). The trees are olive trees, some are very old. The calendar is from "Open Windows".
(D) Reflections: Another walk picture Reflection. We are starting these neighborhood walks now earlier in the morning or after the sun goes down. Temps are getting in to the nineties F.

(1) What comes to mind when you think of "Straight"? I think of a large Straight edge drafting ruler that I have tucked away someplace.
(2) What is an exciting thing you have done lately or some other time in your life? Loosing my wallet in Egypt. I walked through the shipyard to where our bus stopped and found it in the seat I had been sitting in. A police car stopped me and the officers questioned me, then they took me back to our ship.

(1) What is your favorite "S" word? This time it will be "Sailor" When I was young I always wanted to be a Sailor. Towards the end a work life I dreamed of living on a Tug Boat and working it for several more years. In the dream my sister would buy in and also her and SIL would live there too. Now I know a Tug Boat Captain, she is one of the few lady tug boat drivers and is one of my Facebook friends. One of our two Sunday School teacher's father was a tug boat and he sometimes relates to incidents of that life during his lesson.
(2) Do you have any posted Reflection pictures of areas where you use for taking walks? I have pictures of ours posted here Quite Often. We have pretty places to walk.

The Letter "R" ~~ Weekend Roundup and Reflections
The eighteenth issue of Weekend Roundup for this year, 2020...
(THE EIGHTEENTH LETTER FOR THIS SERIES)
- the Letter "R" Prompts are:
(A) Starts with the Letter "R";
(B) "Red" (Tom's choice);
(C) A Favorite; and
(D) Reflections.
During the month ofApril 2020, I was participating in the National Poetry Writing Month daily by posting of a poem of sorts. Mine are here , NaPoWriMo 2020, poems for this year.

(A) Starts with the Letter "R": Roses are Red and start with "R". Whatcamacallits are Yellow.
These are along the sidewalks where we walk but not on the green walking paths. We have three Rose patches in our backyard landscaping. The too are very pretty, we finally had some rain and I fertilized
(B) "Red" (Tom's choice): No, not a political map today, it is back to work states that are in Red. Still very political though, for sure Texas numbers aren't for it, we are still on the up slope.
Note: this is last Tuesday's data being charted.
(C) A Favorite: These are Corndogs that I cooked. Corndogs, sliced dill pickles, and Diet Cokes with corn chips on the table.
I cook corn dogs, hot dogs, deli turkey sandwiches, egg and biscuit sandwiches, and various frozen meals and packaged, canned, or homemade soup.
Mrs. Jim cooks more complicated things, some use recipes. We mostly use groceries we have on hand. Our youngest daughter and BIL shop when we make a list.
Then sometimes we go out to eat, out to get the food, taking it out and zway back home to eat. Pizza and Hamburgers are tied for popularity.
This is one of four plates we had from Sunday's 'Fajita for one' and appetizer Quesadillas. After Internet church (since we will liberated tomorrow there will be regular services, three, sitting every other row and seven feet apart) we drove a couple of miles to our favorite Mexican restaurant to get our take out order.
(D) Reflections: We had a short stop along the way on a recent walk. There are two small falls and you see the front on Reflectig nicely.
Click on the picture a couple of times to get a more in close view. The path Mrs. Jim is standing on goes either past to a playground and tennis area or takes you left to walk over a small bridge between the falls.

My Two Questions (you can answer just one if you wish).
(1) What comes to mind when you think of "Red? I think of poor Red Ridinghood. Also Red Adair (1915-2004), an oil industry fire fighter and part time race car and boat driver. I first saw him driving and having conservation at a car race in 1969. Later we would sometimes eat the same time at a little hamburger place between Clear Lake boat docks and NASA Road 1. He would come via his boat, me by a car for noon lunch break during work.
(2) What is the first thing you will now that Corona Virus staying in has been relaxed? Or 'will do' if it hasn't come yet? Either go to Walmart for groceries next Tuesday morning to shop for myself--daughter and SIL have been going--or to La Madeleine for lunch.
